NEXT SUNDAY
WORSHIP SERVICE
Preacher: Roger Palmer
Text: Mark 1
Topic: Testament to Deity
Roger is the pastor of our sister WPC congregation in Maida Vale. Today is a pulpit swap for our denomination, and Simon is preaching at Canning Vale Community Church.
EVANGELISTIC STRATEGY MEETING TODAY
After the church service this morning there will be a meeting open to any regular ANPC attenders to discuss the role of our church in evangelism. Simon will present the strategy proposed by the elders for discussion with the aim of making ANPC more effective in reaching the non-Christian world. If you are passionate about evangelism or are interested in hearing more, please stay afterwards to discuss and pray together.
There will be NO church lunch on August 17 due to the evangelistic discussion this week.
MISSION OFFERING NEXT WEEK
We will have a retiring offering to support world missions next Sunday.
A NOTICE FROM THE KITCHEN
Those who help prepare morning tea have asked that people not mill around in the kitchen after the service. When there are too many people in there it is difficult to move around and prepare food. If you do need to go into the kitchen, please go in and come out quickly and have those long conversations in the church hall.
COMBINED SERVICE AUGUST 24
From 6 to 8pm on August 24 there will be a combined WPC service at Kingsley Presbyterian Church, 15 Moolanda Blvd Kingsley. The Rev David Jones from Hobart will speak to us. David is well known across Australia for his outstanding expository preaching, and we are very pleased to have him for this important occasion. The service will also include the induction of Rev Derek Jones, Rev Ron Nugent and Rev Andrew Priddle as Pastors Emeriti of the WPC Presbytery of WA. Please plan to come along to worship God with our brothers and sisters from other WPC churches in Perth.
STAMPS FOR LEPROSY MISSION
What do you do with the envelopes you receive in the mail when they are empty? Throw them away? Put them to better use – donate the used stamps to the leprosy mission! You can place old envelopes with stamps on them into the marked box near the windows at the back of the church hall. If you do tear off the stamps, remember there needs to be a border of 1 centimetre all around the stamp. For more information, please speak to Jan or Heather.
PERTH WOMEN’S CONVENTION
The Perth Women’s Convention is a one day conference for women of all ages aimed at encouraging and building up women through the faithful teaching of God’s Word. This year’s conference is entitled ‘Snapshots from the Kingdom’ and will include 3 Bible talks by Maxine Cook on Matthew’s gospel. There are registration forms available on the table near the door. The Convention is on next Saturday and registrations close tomorrow!
Keep your eyes on this space for the details of the Men’s convention, due to be on September 13.
TIME MANAGEMENT “STUFF”
A young boy came to Sunday School late. His teacher knew that he was usually very prompt and asked him if anything was wrong. The boy replied no, that he was going fishing but his dad told him that he needed to go to church. The teacher was very impressed and asked the boy if his dad had explained
to him why it was more important to go to church than to go fishing? The boy replied, “Yes he did. Dad said he didn’t have enough bait for both of us.”

A church wanted to help their congregation cope better with the stresses of modern life, and decided to offer a course in Time Management. Soon after the course was announced, a member telephoned the Pastor. “What time does the course start, Pastor?” The Pastor replied, “Oh… six-ish, seven-ish….”

A little girl went to church for the first time. As she was leaving with her parents, the minister asked how she had liked church. “I liked the music,” she replied, “but the commercial was too long.”

Just a gentle reminder that it would be great to have you all in church by 10am, our regular starting time. It helps those who are organising the various ministries, encourages those who are here on time, and is a sign of respect for our God. Not to mention that it helps stop our visiting preacher’s confusion as they wonder where everyone is!! We are all able to get to work or uni in time. Doesn’t church deserve the same? And there is no rush hour!
A tip for those of you who struggle with parking is to drive straight down to to Stirling St - only 2 streets away, where there are always many parking spots, and then enjoy the relaxing 2 min. walk to church.
