NEXT SUNDAY
WORSHIP SERVICE
Preacher: Simon van Bruchem
Text: 2 Cor 12:1-10
Topic: Why doesn’t God answer my prayer?
MISSION OFFERING THIS MORNING
We will have a retiring offering to support world missions this morning.
PRAYER MEETINGS THIS WEEK
For the past few weeks the home groups have been looking at the topic of prayer, just as all of us have on Sunday mornings. This coming Wednesday night all three groups are holding prayer meetings instead of their regular studies. We have a chance to spend a little more time in prayer than we often do in our busy lives. Even if you don’t normally come to any of the home groups, you are most welcome to join us on Wednesday night. There are groups in Canning Vale, Lathlain and Alexander Heights, and the contact details for each are on the back of the bulletin.
PRESENTATION NEXT WEEK
During the service next week we will be hearing from a representative of Festival of Light Australia. This is a Christian organisation who aims to make Christians aware of and active in influencing government on moral and ethical issues.
A NOTICE FROM THE KITCHEN
Those who help prepare morning tea have asked that people not mill around in the kitchen after the service. When there are too many people in there it is difficult to move around and prepare food. If you do need to go into the kitchen, please go in and come out quickly and have those long conversations in the church hall.
COMBINED SERVICE NEXT SUNDAY NIGHT - AUGUST 24
From 6 to 8pm on August 24 there will be a combined WPC service at Kingsley Presbyterian Church, 15 Moolanda Blvd Kingsley. The Rev David Jones from Hobart will speak to us. David is well known across Australia for his outstanding expository preaching, and we are very pleased to have him for this important occasion. The service will also include the induction of Rev Derek Jones, Rev Ron Nugent and Rev Andrew Priddle as Pastors Emeriti of the WPC Presbytery of WA. Please plan to come along to worship God with our brothers and sisters from other WPC churches in Perth. It will also be an encouragement to Ron on this important recognition of his ministry.
STAMPS FOR LEPROSY MISSION
What do you do with the envelopes you receive in the mail when they are empty? Throw them away? Put them to better use – donate the used stamps to the leprosy mission! You can place old envelopes with stamps on them into the marked box near the windows at the back of the church hall. If you do tear off the stamps, remember there needs to be a border of 1 centimetre all around the stamp. For more information, please speak to Jan or Heather.
