WORSHIP SERVICE
Preacher: Simon van Bruchem
Text: 1 Timothy 2:1-15
Topic: The sticky topic: female church leadership
BAPTISM AND MEMBERSHIP THIS MORNING
We have the privilege of witnessing the baptism and membership admission of Anthony Quek in the service this morning. Please pray for him and look forward to welcoming him officially into our church family.
LORD’S SUPPER NEXT WEEK
We are celebrating the Lord’s Supper next week. Please take some time to prepare your heart during this week, and to work on any relationship problems you might have with others in church. This is an important celebration, and one we don’t want to take lightly.
ALL NATIONS BLOG
A new blog has been set up as part of the All Nations website (www.allnations.org.au). Summaries from recent sermons and Friday Night teaching will be uploaded here a few days after it is first delivered. The aim of this blog is to help us to think through what we have learnt during the week. There is a function to subscribe to the blog, which will lead to an email being sent to you each time it is updated.
TRINITY THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE GRADUATION
You are welcome to join with the TTC college community to celebrate the graduation of their students from last year and to pray for the coming year. The service will be held at Subiaco Church of Christ, 260 Bagot Road, Subiaco, at 7.30pm on March 15. The speaker this year is Mike Fischer from Melville Baptist Church. You can RSVP by March 8 by calling 9228 9067 or emailing reception@ttc.wa.edu.au.
HIGH SCHOOL CAMP
If you are of high-school age, there is a camp coming up which is open to anyone in our denomination. You will have a chance to meet other high schoolers from our sister churches and enjoy a weekend away with good teaching. The camp will be held from March 19-21 at Ern Halliday Rec Camp in Hillarys. Mark Vivian will be speaking on ‘Is God really good?’. For a brochure, please see Robin, or see the poster on the noticeboard.
MISSIONS GIVING
As approved in the last budget, 10% of all our general offerings now go to a range of local and overseas missions. This means our budget is 10% higher than last year. So if you can, please remember to give enough to cover the needs of our church and the wider Christian family too.
THE MESSENGER
The Messenger is our denominational magazine. It is free, so please take a copy. It has some useful articles and news from other churches. It is available on the table near the door.
NEWS FROM MUSTARD SEED ORPHANAGE
There is an email and photos from the Mustard Seed Orphange in Burma that we support on the noticeboard. Please look at these and pray for this work. God is doing great things in Burma.
PASTORAL VISITS
At All Nations, we don’t have much of a culture of visiting each other to discuss spiritual matters. The elders and deacons are intending to visit more people in the coming year. Please don’t be scared if an elder contacts you to arrange a time to talk to you – it doesn’t mean you are in trouble! It is a way of getting to know each other better and encouraging each other. Of course, if you have something you would like to speak to an elder about, please contact Simon or Murray and we will make a time to talk.
MUSICIANS AND SINGERS NEEDED!
You may have noticed that we have had no singers throughout January, which makes a big impact on the congregational singing. This is to give the singers a rest, for we don’t have enough people willing to sing up the front. If you can help, please see Foong or Christine. If the congregation is well-led, it makes a wonderful difference to the way we can sing together.
A WARNING ABOUT NUTS
If you are on morning tea duty, the whole church is very grateful for your service. But there is one thing we need to be aware of – please do not bring nuts or food with nuts in it for morning tea. We have some people in our congregation who are very allergic to nuts and could suffer serious medical conditions if they eat any. Please consider this when you are thinking of what to bring next time you are on morning tea.
PERTH CHILDREN’S MINISTRY CONVENTION 2010
The topic of the Perth Children’s Convention this year is very relevant to our church – ‘Parenting Roles in Teaching Children the Faith’. It is being held on Saturday March 20 at Lake Joondalup Baptist College, and only costs $35 including lunch and handbook. The speakers are experienced as parents, grandparents and in church work. This will be a very worthwhile day. Please see the poster on the notice board or pick up a brochure for more information, or visit www.ccowa.org.
A CHANGE TO PARKING
All Nations has been given permission to use a private parking lot on Stirling Street on Sundays. Stirling Street is the street behind the church, parallel to Beaufort Street. The private lot is owned by a printing company – it has ‘Go Print’ on a sign on the building. It has large signs warning against unauthorized parking, but we are now authorized. We may park in any designated spot within this carpark EXCEPT the few bays under cover.
Those with prams might need to walk around the block for easy access as there are steps to go up if you access the church via the laneway. But now you should be able to find parking within a block, which is a big improvement.
DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH YOUR ENGLISH?
As we have people among us from many backgrounds and languages, it can sometimes be difficult to follow a sermon in English. Although we strive to use simple language and grammar, it can be too fast for you if your English is not strong. So from today there will be copies of the written text of the sermon for the day available at the door if this will be helpful for you. Please let Simon know if you would appreciate this each week, and we will make sure there are enough copies for those who need them.
